Fighting the game console war—and winning

Congratulations. You’ve just rented your Wii gaming console from Home Appliance Rentals, and have even hooked it up to your television. (See? It was easy to connect—just like they said it would be.) Now you’re ready to load up a game and have a blast—literally if you choose the right one.

But while choosing the Wii was easy, choosing the right game can be tricky. There are literally hundreds to choose from, and they’re not cheap. And like everything else, just because it’s expensive doesn’t mean it’s good.

If you’re not careful, “Wii” could also be the sound of your hard-earned cash flying out of your wallet or purse.

So how do you get to play some decent games without breaking the bank? Here are a few options.

Rent

Next time you’re roaming the aisles of your favourite DVD rental store, see if they have any Wii games you can rent out while you’re at it. It’s a cheap and easy way to try before you buy. And if you choose a good one your family may just forgive you for the awful movie they had to sit through.

Buy “pre-owned”

A lot of places now sell second-hand games (though they prefer to call them “pre-owned” or even “pre-loved”). These are often great games the original owner simply doesn’t play any more because they’ve defeated the “big boss” or whatever sinister character they were battling for three days straight. This is a great way to get games at a fraction of the cost of buying them new.

Borrow

Chances are you know someone who also owns a Wii. So why not ask if you can borrow a few of their games for the weekend/month/until they ask for them back? And when you start buying a few of your own you can return the favour.

Now can have hours of fun with your Wii console from Home Appliance Rentals. At least until someone wants to watch another of those awful movies they keep renting out.

Renting your next computer makes perfect sense.

The great thing about computers is they’re always getting faster and more powerful.

The bad thing about computers is they’re always getting faster and more powerful. Which means by the time you buy a computer, take it home and finally get everything set up it already starts to feel slow and sluggish. And let’s face it: in today’s modern world, time is definitely money.

That’s assuming you get it up and running at all. Unless you buy a laptop your computer “package” will include a jumble of cables, none of which seem to fit. It’s like the world’s most expensive brain teaser puzzle—especially if you plug in the wrong cable and switch it on.

If you manage to get it running, the next thing is to install the software. This usually involved putting a CD, choosing from a myriad of options, and typing in an obscure code that looks more like a missile launch code out of War Games.

And getting on the Internet? Well, that’s a whole ‘nother topic.

That’s why renting a desktop or laptop computer from Home Appliance Rentals is such a great idea. Instead of having to put up with an out-of-date computer that slows you down, you can have an up-to-date model that lets you work quickly and efficiently.

And you don’t have to worry about all those cables or launch codes. Home Appliance Rentals will not only deliver your computer but install it as well. And all their computers include antivirus software to keep you safe from nasty viruses or spyware.

And at the end of your rental period you can simply upgrade by renting a more powerful computer.

Renting your next computer makes perfect sense. Unlike those missile launch codes.

Benefits of renting appliances

There are times in our lives where we need something we don't have and don't want to go and spend our hard earned cash on.

In the case of Appliances - renting is the perfect option. A few dollars a day and you can be using a fridge, washing machine etc without the hassles of owning the unit. A change to the working life has now meant that alot of us travel around staying only short periods on contracts before moving onto something bigger and better. This means a change in accomodation as well - renting appliances gives you the ease to move around - taking it with you or just packing your bags and moving on while someone else worries about the bulky appliances.

There's no service calls to worry about, if there's a problem we swap it - no need to wait around for service calls - trademen not turning up when they promise. Our driver is there at the time you have been advised.

You can use your hard earned cash to enjoy or invest rather than on an appliance that only suits your needs for a short time.

Need to rent call us and be surprised how easy the process is and how cheap it can be.

Spring Time Cleanup

Spring's a great time to get in and have a clean up of all your appliances. It's very simple -

Firstly your Washing Machine - you may find your clothes aren't as clean as you would have hoped, this may be due to a build up of cleaning products both around the rim of your machine and in the hoses, best way to clean the hoses out naturally is a cup of white vinegar in a hot empty wash cycle. I know it sounds like a waste of water but it will help in the long run to eleviate any rewashing. While you have a full tub swish the water around the rim of the unit getting rid of any build up of powder especially inside the lint filter stem. It takes a few minutes and you will find your clothes cleaner than ever and smelling much fresher. (As well as the laundry smelling nicer too)

Secondly your Dryer - during winter this unit can get a real work out especially living in a unit. Make sure the back of the unit is fluff free, just use a dustbrush to brush away any lint and clean out the lint filter, this is usually found inside the unit or on the door. Pull and vacuum all the lint away, this not only makes your clothes fluff free but helps the unit run more energy efficient as it's not working overtime and overheating. It is always best to ensure a good air flow when your dryer is operating, otherwise overheating or a overfull lint filter may be a fire hazard.

Finally your Fridge - with warmer weather comes more entertaining, just before a big shop empty the fridge and pull all shelves and door bins out and wash in hot soapy water - washing up liquid is perfect - this also gives you an opportunity to throw out those strange things lurking at the back that no longer resemble any meal you've had recently. An overstocked fridge or freezer may lead to the unit overheating or simply not closing properly resulting in poor food storage. If this is the case just give our office a call and we would be happy to quote you rental pricing for a fridge that suits your lifestyle

What Size Washing Machine Do I Need?

When selecting a washing machine we recommend that you select the washing machines size by taking into account a number of different factors. These include how many people will washing in the machine at one time, because in shared households it is easy to select a large washing machine based on the number of the people in the home, when in fact a smaller sized washer would suit as everyone washes their clothes separately. This may not be the case for a family though.

The larger machines have advantages over the medium sized washing machines, this is if you want to wash large blankets or sheet sets. The smaller machines are not able to circulate the clothes correctly during the washing cycle in the same way a larger washing machine can.

Water usage is also a factor, however you can adjust the water level in all the washing machines that Home Appliance Rentals supply so there should be no water wastage. If you do not fill the washing machine with clothes you simply change the water level setting prior to washing.

Therefore we recommend the following checks are carried out before selecting a washing machine:

  • How many people wash at one time
  • Do I wash double bed linen on a regular bases
  • Do I have restrictions in the area the washing machine must fit into
  • Do I require a top loader or a front loader
  • Can I turn the operating dial or do I require buttons

Additional information such as dimensions and style of machines can be found at http://www.homeappliancerentals.com.au/products/washing-machine-rental.html or by calling us on 1300 800 388.
